Reade Foong is an Associate at MC Botha Inc.
He graduated with an LLB degree, with 12 distinctions, from Nelson Mandela University in 2022, and completed his practical vocational training with the LSSA School for Legal Practice in 2023 with distinction. His LLB treatise considered African Regional Law with a research focus on commodity dependence and tariff reliance in the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Reade gained valuable legal experience in family law, advising clients on their rights and legal options, and handling court cases, as a student assistant and candidate legal practitioner at the Nelson Mandela University Law Clinic.
He is a qualified mediator and has gained experience in mediation, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution.
As a candidate legal practitioner under MC Botha’s tutelage, he has honed his commercial legal practice – handling diverse High Court matters and has played an active role supporting the firm’s clients in disputes with municipalities, Eskom and the National Energy Regulator (NERSA).
He is currently enrolled for a research-based Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Public Law at Nelson Mandela University. His research focus is energy and regulatory law, analysing the role players in legal disputes concerning the disconnection of electricity supply.
